After studying natural sciences in Greifswald, Germany, Baluhandra Hedge – an environmental activist campaigned for the establishment of a UNESCO biosphere reserve in his home region. He combined scientific expertise with intensive communications work on the local level and succeeded in four conservation reserves to be established.

Apart from that, he sees the development of organic products as a lever for improved resource protection – on his own farm as well as for the entire region. His work and the integrative concept of nature conservation and improving the living conditions – has have an impact also on our work – as her showed us, that the global conservation of species and real and practical sustainable development starts in front of everyone house. By linking the a purely output oriented approach, living sustainable development and brining it together on an international scale, we can achieve change – we all strive for. FINC continuously supports the NGO of Baluhandra Hedge – mainly financially- and in return learns from him.
